Chinese New Year marks the start of the lunar year, based on a calendar that follows the cycles of the moon.
This year, the New Year starts on January 31 which is the beginning of the Year of the Horse. To everyone celebrating, Have a lovely time. 

PS The first day of the Chinese astrological year is the first day of the Tiger month which marks the beginning of spring usually around 4th February.
