We are having a real estate boom in Windsor Ontario this year, and subsequently houses are being sold with short closing dates as people want to move quickly. Until recently a house could be on the market for some considerable time so there was a certain “manana” mentality of the next day but not with quite the same urgency. That changed early this year and during one of our estate sales this year I believe the house was sold alongside the various possessions. This has put a strain on families who wish to downsize and declutter when moving or when a loved one passes. I am now receiving a lot of requests for estate sales from families with possessions currently in storage, and here problems arise as there are so many additional costs involved in holding a sale in a different location(s) Good luck once you have sold in getting a moving company to move you before Christmas. I recently took on a jewelry liquidation that we had to hold in my double garage as the house had been sold and no one had any additional room to hold a sale. We also added the remains of the day from another sale to make it a little more interesting to our customers and make some more money for the clients. Although it was held in the garage and garden, it was still the possessions of someones estate and not just a garage sale by owner. My advice to anyone selling is to have your sale and declutter prior to putting your house on the market. Nowadays you have to expect the unexpected.
